Providing pathways to professional growth is a valuable way Presbyterian helps it workforce to thrive, enabling us to retain our workforce while supporting their career goals.
In 2024, Presbyterian partnered with Unitek Learning, parent company of Brookline College, to offer Presbyterian Nursing Career Pathways, a program that enables employees to launch their nursing career while keeping their current Presbyterian position. Employees can pursue their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN BSN) degree or Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) degree. With support from the Foundation, Presbyterian offers financial assistance and scheduling flexibility while employees go through the program.

One of those students is Janell Richards, a Medical Assistant (MA) at Presbyterian Rust Medical Center urology clinic. She says Presbyterian’s program was just what she needed to bridge her MA certification into a nursing career. She is pursuing her RN BSN and plans to continue serving urology patients.
After the program becomes fully operational, it will produce an estimated 40 PN and 70 BSN graduates each year. The first cohort of 13 practical nurse students graduated in March 2025. The second cohort of 15 began in September 2024 and the third cohort of 24 began their studies in early March 2025.
These students are also some of the first to use the Presbyterian Healthcare Advanced Learning Lab (HALL), an innovative learning space where the next generation of healthcare workers can advance current skills and learn new ones.
