Almost $20 million in organizational funding and charitable support since 2022 has helped to expand Presbyterian Neuroscience. Patient volumes have grown significantly. Additional neurosurgeons are joining the team this year.
Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation continues to prioritize this important work for philanthropy, so more patients can access care without leaving New Mexico. Current fundraising is focused on a new, hybrid operating room (OR) at Presbyterian Hospital, which will support advanced neuroscience and heart/vascular care for treatment of stroke, aneurysms, blocked carotid arteries and more.
The hybrid OR will have advanced capabilities for endovascular procedures, which use catheters, stents and other devices. The hybrid OR combines imaging and operating equipment in one space, eliminating the need for patients to be moved during procedures and offering care teams everything they need in one room.
Additional organizational and philanthropic support in the past three years has funded new technology and equipment for neurosurgery, including Stealth surgical navigation and the O-Arm surgical platform. Donor support has also funded tele-neurology capabilities for expanded care statewide, nonsurgical treatment for low back pain and pain/spine conditions, and advanced training for nurses, EEG technicians and other staff.
